Aliyah Profiles
Your Aliyah profile determines which benefits, rights, and steps apply to you during and after your Aliyah process. It’s based on your age, citizenship, family status, and personal history in Israel. Every profile comes with its own conditions, so getting it right is key.
An Oleh Chadash (plural: Olim Chadashim) is a Jew who immigrates to Israel under the Law of Return and receives Israeli citizenship. This profile applies to someone who has never held Israeli citizenship before.
An Ezrach Oleh is someone who was born abroad to at least one Israeli parent, making them technically Israeli by birth — even if they never lived in Israel. If they move to Israel as adults and claim citizenship, they’re eligible for Aliyah rights with some differences compared to an Oleh Chadash.
A Katin Chozer refers to someone who was born in Israel or held Israeli citizenship as a child, left before age 14, and is now returning to live in Israel before turning 21. This profile comes with unique eligibility conditions for Aliyah benefits.
A Toshav Chozer is someone who was previously an Israeli resident and is returning after living abroad for a significant period. If you lived outside Israel for at least 2 consecutive years and no longer received Israeli benefits during that time, you may qualify for certain returning resident rights.
